The relatively gentle elevation map for Day Two brought a smile to many Cyclists' faces after the grueling climbs of Day One! The route led past fields of artichokes, a shop on the side of the road called the Thistle Hut, and the twin smokestacks of Moss Landing. Near the city of Marina, the route took them into rare and beautiful territory -- a dedicated bike path.

The first Cyclist arrived at camp at 11:38am. He is a Poz Pedaler and wants to let everyone know that he receives medical care at the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and wanted to extend his thanks to everyone there for the care and support that allows him to live a healthy poz life!

Day Two of AIDS/LifeCycle was dedicated to the memory of Tom Gilder, Cyclist #4735 in AIDS/LifeCycle.

Destination: Greenfield

Located in the heart of California's Salinas Valley, the City of Greenfield is located between the Gabilan mountain range to the east and the Santa Lucia range to the west. It is centered in one of the most productive agricultural areas in the world. The area often has been coined as the "Salad Bowl of the World." Over $2 billion worth of fruits and vegetables are produced and shipped annually in the United States and abroad. Local tourism is increasing as more people are attracted to the area, which is also known as the center of "Steinbeck Country."

The area is also known as a premier wine grape growing region due to the rich soil and desirable climate. Vineyards, wineries and wine tasting rooms continue to expand throughout the region.

Greenfield was the creation of the Clark Colony Water Company, which built a network of irrigation canals and filled them with water from the nearby Arroyo Seco River. The city's population is 12,581.
